Leaffer Law Group joined accounting firm BKD Colorado for its 2016 Not-for-Profit/Health Care seminar to present on the “Social Enterprise in Focus: Finding the Right Fit for Your Organization.” The presentation introduced the topic of social enterprise through a nonprofit lens. It explored the meaning of “social enterprise;” provided an overview of the structural options available for a social enterprise, including use of taxable, tax-exempt or hybrid entities, as well as tandem (brother/sister) structures; and explored issues like funding, the nature of planned activities and exit strategy that can be key in determining the shape of each social enterprise.
