Update Available for Guide for Colorado Nonprofit Organizations
A 2009 update is now available for the Guide for Colorado Nonprofit Organizations. The guide, which was originally published in 2007, covers the legal aspects of forming a nonprofit in Colorado. It also covers both the federal and state tax treatment of such entities, as well as the importance of avoiding common pitfalls that can compromise tax-exempt status or result in penalties to the organization or its managers.
Karen (Leaffer) Schauble, the founder of Karen (Leaffer) Schauble LLC, is the managing editor for the guide, as well as the author of chapters entitled “Types of Tax-Exempt Organizations” (2007), “Unrelated Business Income and the Doctrine of Commerciality” (2007) and “Public Charities, Private Foundations and Private Foundation Alternatives.”
