Donor advised funds and foundations are two alternative conduits for donors to pass money to charities. It is important for nonprofit organizations and their advisors to understand the differences between these two concepts and how to determine which path to choose. At the Colorado Bar Association’s 31st Annual Institute on Advising Nonprofit Organizations on November 3, 2022, Karen (Leaffer) Schauble will present on “Donor Advised Fund vs. Foundation” where she will review recent changes and hot topics impacting nonprofit clients. Along with an annual tax update, she’ll discuss how to help a nonprofit through a merger or acquisition process, and how to protect and benefit from its intellectual property. This session will also provide information on privacy laws impacting nonprofits and a Secretary of State charitable giving update.
