Karen Leaffer Schauble presented on “Legal Fundamentals for Scholarship Providers” at the National Scholarship Providers Association’s 2016 conference. In a session geared toward new (or relatively new) scholarship providers, Karen presented on legal fundamentals including an overview of the legal framework within which private scholarship providers work. For scholarship providers still getting familiar with the legal and tax requirements that apply to them, Karen answered basic but fundamental legal/tax questions related to donor participation limits in the selection process, rules for registering charitable solicitations when raising funds from the public, and IRS reporting.
