Colorado Secretary of State Releases Complete Nonprofit Board Education Series

The Colorado Secretary of State’s office has released the fifth and final installment in its eLearning series, “Board Education and Effectiveness,” aimed at helping nonprofits train and strenthen their boards of directors. The latest release focuses on personnel issues, including education on challenges such as classifying workers as employees vs. independent contractors; an overview of personnel tax issues; guidance on executive and board compensation; and a step-by-step guide for onboarding new directors.

Leaffer Law Group was proud to assist with review of this project. In addition, nonprofit leaders from throughout Colorado also helped produce course content, which touched on a variety of key board topics including governance, fiduciary duties, review of the Form 990 and regulatory compliance. The complete series can be accessed here.
