More Nonprofits Can File e-Postcard
The Internal Revenue Service has raised the annual gross receipts threshold at which many tax-exempt organizations must file the Form 990, from $25,000 to $50,000. This rule change applies to tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2010, and will allow certain organizations whose gross receipts are normally $50,000 or less to file the simpler electronic Form 990-N. Private foundations and section 509(a)(3) supporting organizations are not eligible to use the 990-N return, regardless of their gross receipts.
