At today’s Colorado Bar Association’s 25th Annual Institute on Advising Nonprofits, nonprofit attorney Becky Seidel presented “Obtaining and Retaining Tax-Exempt Status” at the Primer on Advising Nonprofits. The Primer was co-sponsored by the Business and Taxation Law Sections of the CBA, the Colorado Nonprofit Association, and the Colorado Society of Association Executives. Becky’s presentation gave an overview of the different categories of tax-exempt organizations, including social welfare organizations, trade associations, and social clubs, and focused on requirement details for qualifying and operating as a Section 501(c)(3) organization.
